Fell ponies

recently i heard a discussion on fell ponies whether or not they should be included in the team results for races?

well it ain't rocket science!

fell ponies is an informal club consisting of people who don't want to be in a recognized club ( such as ourselves ) but want to be one step up from a unattached runner.

The members of Fell Ponys are county-wide, therefore have no base like ourselves(the Pits ), no structured training, and as far as I know, no membership fees. They do have a club vest and appear on results as 'fell ponys'.

Thanks again.

It's all very clear now.  Cool

Why does someone want to be a member of a club if they don't want to be  club member? If that makes sense.
dnf

Cause Fell Ponies only run on the fells ,not the road, I assume their club isnt affiliated to UKA and doesnt pay a levy to them, unlike our own club. As for being in a club, one assumes its down to a natural human instinct to 'herd' together.

So what benefit do they get from this non-club?
dnf

maybe pudgy could help, I think he has just joined them.
Rod the Plod

Really!
dnf

He's been on the fell running forum telling of receiving his fell ponys vest. See if he runs at Ravenstones as a Rossy or a Pony.

Half the fun in being in a club is a bit of scandal, bickering, back-stabbing, innuendo....................... beats Corry and talking about the weather.
